          內容簡介:

Creative teams rely on their selection of top-quality ideas for developing creative products and services. Lead creators, the most creative members within work teams, are presumably the most reliable source of creative ideas. Yet prior studies showed that teams often failed to adopt or integrate ideas from lead creators in team processes. It is thus important to understand when and how teams select lead creators’ ideas.

Idea selection literature has stressed the role of collective motivation in selecting high-quality ideas. Developing this perspective, we suggest that team learning goal is more positively related to team selection of lead creators’ ideas when these individuals are highly creative in an absolute sense. Because learning-oriented teams that strive to master challenges are more likely to attend to and pursue their creative ideas when lead creators present highly unconventional ideas (i.e., highly creative). Further, we integrate the social network perspective to suggest that the advice centrality of lead creators translates this joint impact on team idea selection. Motivated to understand and master lead creators’ ideas when they are highly creative, learning-oriented teams are prone to seek inputs from lead creators for better comprehension, dissemination, and implementation of their creative ideas. This sequentially stimulates team selection of lead creators’ ideas. We tested and supported this mediated moderation model on a multi-source dataset of 49 teams across various organizations.
